Seizing asset bill

Sen. Kyle Loveless, R-Oklahoma City, filed Senate Bill 838, (Personal Asset Protection Act) which is aimed at reforming a practice known as civil asset forfeiture which the government uses to seize assets like cash and vehicles alleged to be part of a larger crime.

Bingman wants state-funded pop museum in Tulsa

Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman has introduced legislation that would provide funding for construction of the Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture, better known as OKPOP. 

Prisoner transfer

Governor Mary Fallin signed into law a measure designed to streamline the process of transferring prisoners from county jails to Department of Corrections (DOC) custody.

Lawyers for the "Nonhuman Rights Project" have filed a lawsuit against The University of New York at Stony Brook on behalf of "Hercules" and "Leo" – two chimpanzees who are being "unlawfully detained."

Letter: Time to end dismemberment abortion

Let's hope that that other states will follow the lead of Kansas and Oklahoma in banning dismemberment abortions.  And let's hope the U.S. Congress will soon pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Protection Act, as the U.S. House is set to take it up.
