What is Mend Medical Clinic and Pregnancy Resource Center’s is responding to COVID-19 in several ways even though the clinic itself is closed.

All the area pregnancy resource centers are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic but so are the state’s abortion clinics.

Gov. Kevin Stitt’s issued an executive order to halt elective surgeries so hospitals could devote resources to emergency operations and caring for victims of the virus.

Mend is continuing to see clients utilizing health screening protocols. They are offering video casts Executive Director Forrest Cowan said staff members are working from home and offering counseling to women who call  918-745-6000.

Cowan said that because the abortion clinics are closed, women are buying abortion pills overseas and having them shipped here. There is no guarantee of the ingredients in these pills plus state law requires that abortion pills be administered by a doctor.

Even though Mend can’t accept donations like diapers, baby clothes, etc., people can donate money at www.mendpregnancy.org. For clients, Mend has set up a corporate account with Wal-Mart so that women can pick up needed supplies.
