Socialist trend

A few years ago Hillary Clinton’s proposed national health care went down in defeat, but now it essentially is being raised from the dead by Barak Obama and the Democratic Party.

How it is to be paid for of course is not discussed as there are some people who have concern for our over bloated national deficit of $9 trillion plus and climbing.

Though America’s health care system is not perfect and is quite expensive due in large part to our government’s hand in managing it through Medicare, Medicaid, etc., more government control and regulating it is not a rational solution.

In a valuable policy analysis published by the Cato Institute, Michael Tanner states, “In countries weighted heavily toward government control, people are most likely to face waiting lists, rationing, restriction on physician choice and other obstacles to care.”

The American Spectator states, in regard to France, the United Kingdom, etc; “The government pays and the patient waits and waits.”

Canadian Shona Holmes who traveled to the United States rather than risk dying waiting for Canada’s health bureaucracy stated that more than 800,000 Canadians are waiting long periods for treatment of life threatening ailments that could be taken care of in a short time in the United States.

A 2001 article in the Belgian magazine Knack quotes a nurse who states that due to government budget cuts that resulted in fewer beds, “we drastically augment the level of morphine that we give to the very sick, or we inject them with Pentothal,” a practice known as euthanasia and a cost-saver appealing to some socialist national health care bureaucrats.
